Registered Electricians Who Fit an EV Home Charger Every Week
We are not a retailer with a subcontractor list or a franchise with a call centre. We are the people who turn up with the van.
An Electrical Business That Got Very Good at One Job
EV Home Charger is the home EV charging side of a Christchurch electrical business that has been wiring Canterbury homes for 12+ years. A few years ago EV chargers were one job in ten. Now they are most weeks' work, from Kaiapoi to Lincoln, and we decided the work deserved its own front door: one site that answers the two questions everyone has, what does it cost and which charger, without making you ring to find out.
The people doing the work are EWRB-registered electricians. You can check our registration numbers on the Electrical Workers Registration Board site, they appear on your Certificate of Compliance, and we carry public liability insurance like any trade that works inside your home should.
Four Habits We Will Not Give Up
Prices on the Website
Every charger we fit has its installed price published. If you cannot find a price on a tradie's website, ask yourself why.
Load Management Before Copper
We fit a CT clamp before we quote a new switchboard. It is cheaper for you and it is the better engineering answer for a capacity problem.
Itemised, Fixed, Written
The quote lists the charger, the labour, the cable and anything else as its own line. The total is fixed and it is what the invoice says.
The Installer Answers the Phone
Ring the number and you get someone who fits chargers, not a booking desk. Ask the awkward question. We would rather answer it now than on install day.
Independent, Which Means We Can Tell You No
We are not tied to a charger brand. We fit Evnex because it is made here and backed here, EV Power because it is a Christchurch supplier with sharp prices, Tesla because half our Tesla customers already own one, Wallbox for the app and the size, and Zappi for solar homes. We also fit chargers you have bought elsewhere for the flat labour price, as long as they are certified for New Zealand.
Being independent means we can say the honest thing: that a $700 solar mode is wasted on a house without panels, that 22kW is pointless on single-phase, that the cheapest unit on the list is a perfectly good charger for a new build with a healthy board. The comparison page is written that way.
In Customers' Words
Called around a few places first and these guys were the only ones who could actually give us a number before turning up. Install was tidy, quick, and the guy explained everything as he went.
Imported EV with the older Type 1 plug and I half expected that to be a problem. Wasn't an issue at all, they had the right charger and cable sorted same as anyone else.
We'd been putting it off for months because the first quote was so expensive. They came back with an option that didn't need the switchboard upgrade at all, and we were charging at home within a week. The whole process was really straightforward.

Four photos are all we need: your switchboard with the door open, the spot where the charger will go, the path between them and your meter board. One written number comes back, usually the same day.
